CHARLOTTE, NC — A two-alarm apartment fire in east Charlotte left two firefighters injured and multiple residents out in the cold.
According to officials, the fire broke out around 8pm Monday at the Wellington Farms Apartments on Sloping Oaks Road. Residents reported flames shooting through the roof, and officials say it took crews about 25 minutes to get the fire under control.
Charlotte Fire Department says two firefighters received minor injuries, and 15 occupants were displaced. At least one apartment was destroyed by the fire, and two others were damaged by smoke and water.
Officials have not released the full extent of damages, and are still trying to determine what started the fire.
