NEW LONDON, N.C. — Investigators say the bomb squad has been called out after dynamite was found under a home in Stanly County.
Officials say they received a call around 1pm in reference to dynamite being found at a home under construction off Gurley Road near Hearne Road in New London.
The home is near the old Cotton Patch Gold Mine and Campground. Officials believe the dynamite may have been at the home for several years and could have been from when the mine was open.
There is no threat to public safety or the community at this time.
