Police Say Woman Failed To Stop For Crossing Arms In Fatal Light Rail Accident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a deadly accident involving a vehicle and a light rail train in south Charlotte.

Investigators say the wreck happened just before 9:30am on South Boulevard near East Hebron Street on the Lynx light rail tracks when 26-year-old Ashley Riveron failed to stop for the crossing arms and signals.

Riveron was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel after her vehicle collided with the train that had 38 passengers on board.

The crash remains under investigation.  Expect delays in the area. There is no word on when the Lynx light rail will resume their services.
