Autopsy Shows No Signs Of Trauma On 3-Year-Old Found Dead At Burke County Home

UPDATE: Officials say an autopsy showed no signs of trauma on 3-year-old Landyn Melton who was found dead on the front last Wednesday morning.

Officials say they are still trying to determine the exact cause of death in the case. Toxicology and other tests are also being performed, according to a release, but those results will not be available for about two weeks.

Detectives say they are continuing to conduct interviews as the investigation is ongoing. So far, officials say it still has not been determined as to whether or not charges will be filed in the case.


UPDATE: Deputies say an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday for the 3-year-old boy found dead on a front porch early Wednesday morning.

The front door was open and the storm door was closed, according to officials, when deputies arrived, and the boy’s mother and her boyfriend were both asleep inside the home.


BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are investigating after a 3-year-old child was found dead on a porch in Burke County.

Investigators say they received a 911 call from a motorist saying they thought they saw a child laying on the front porch of a home off Hopewell Road in Morganton.

Deputies arrived at the home just before 8am and found a child deceased.  Detectives are currently investigating and no other information has been released at this time.
