IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — An Iredell County man is in custody following an investigation into sex offenses involving a child.
Authorities say detectives were assigned to investigate reports of a child being assaulted by an acquaintance. Following an interview with the child, at the Dove house Children’s Advocacy Center, additional witnesses were identified and interviewed.
As a result of the investigation, Michael Anthony Pizza, 31, was arrested and charged with five counts of Sexual Offense with a Child, Adult Offender, and Five Counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Pizza was placed in the custody of the Iredell County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 bond.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Pizza has an extensive criminal record including charges for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, First Degree Trespassing, Injury to Personal Property, Assault on a Female, and Violation of a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
