Argument Leads To Fourth Homicide In A Week After Shooting In NW Charlotte
UPDATE: Β CMPD has identified the victim as 29-year-old Laymon A. Moore.
CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is investigating the fourth homicide in a week, and now 22nd for the year, after a shooting in northwest Charlotte Tuesday night.
The shooting happened just before 8:30pm across from the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Park on Catherine Simmons Avenue. According to police, the victim was walking down the street when a vehicle pulled up beside him. He and the suspects in the car got into a verbal argument. The argument escalated, police say, and the suspects shot him before taking off.
Police say they found the man lying close to the street when they arrived. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim’s name has not been released, and no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
