Third Person Dies After Shooting Outside Hickory Bar

UPDATE: A third person has died as a result of the shooting outside J. McCroskey’s in Hickory early Friday morning.

Hickory Police say, on Saturday, April 8th, Quajuae Alexus Kennedy, 21, died at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Police are still investigating the shooting.

HICKORY, N.C. — Β Hickory Police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting that killed two people outside a bar early Friday morning.

Dontray Tyrell Cumberlander, 23, and Greydon Keith Hansen, 23, are both charged with two counts of Murder and one count of Assault With A Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury Intent To Kill. Β They are being held without bond.

Police say on April 7, 2017, at about 2:15 a.m., officers were called to a shots fired report in the parking lot of J. McCroskey’s Irish Pub and Grill in Hickory.

Arriving officers located one victim at the scene and other victims were reported at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Hickory Police say a verbal altercation in the parking lot of J. McCroskey’s led to the suspects shooting at the vehicle in which the victims were located.

As a result of the shooting, Justin Michael Aiken, 21, of Newton was pronounced dead upon arrival at Frye Regional Medical Center. Β Cody Manood Bouphavong, 21, died at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Quajuae Alexus Kennedy, 21, of Newton is in critical condition at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Β Cole Brady Ervin, 20, of Claremont, was treated for gunshot wounds and released from Frye Regional Medical Center. Β Pablo Castillo, 21, of Conover, was driving the victim’s vehicle and was not injured.

The case is still under investigation.
