Man Accused Of Throwing Baby On Ground During Burglary

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Police arrested a man for seriously injuring a child during a home burglary in Albemarle.  Officers with the Albemarle Police Department arrested Deon Novell Jackson on April 7th for a variety of offenses including inflicting serious injury to an infant.

Officers say a woman called 911 and said someone broke into her home on South Marrow Ave.  Once on scene, officers found the female in question crying, holding her infant child. She stated that Jackson broke into her home, assaulted her, stole items, and threw her child to the ground, causing injury to the infant.

Jackson fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival but first aid was rendered to the child until medics arrived and took the child to the hospital. The child has sense been released from the hospital and doing fine.

Jackson is being charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury and Misdemeanor Assault on a Female. He received a $250,000.00 secured bond and his next court date is April 17th, 2017 at 9:00 am.
