Woman Arrested for Shooting Estranged Husband

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A woman has been arrested for a shooting her estranged husband after a domestic despute that occurred over the weekend.

Officers discovered Wendy Frances Haverstick at the location when they arrived back on April 8th following reports that a shooting had occurred. While speaking with the Haverstick,  her husband, who she had been separated with for some time, showed up at Iredell Memorial Hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Mr. Haverstick was taken into the facility and treatment was provided. He was later flown to Baptist Hospital for further medical care.

Ms. Haverstick was taken to Davis Regional for treatment for minor non-life threatening injuries.

After a follow up investigation, the crime scene inside the business where the shooting took place was processed, as well as a scene at the Mr. Haverstick pickup truck in the parking lot of IMH, where a handgun was recovered. The shooting was apparently the result of a domestic dispute at the location involving the two who are married, but possibly estranged.

The male victim, at last check, was in critical condition, undergoing surgery at the time of this release.
Investigators eventually obtained warrants on Ms. Haverstick on Tuesday afternoon for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, and Assault while a minor was present.

Her warrants were served on Wednesday morning, April 12th, at the Iredell County Jail. She was held initially under no bond due to the crime being domestic violence related; however, after her first appearance this morning, Haverstick’s bond was set at $30,000 secured, with a court date set for May 1, 2017.

The shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between the estranged couple, which took place on Saturday evening at Haverstick’s business on N. Center St. The two had been separated for some time.

The dispute led to the suspect’s estranged husband, being shot by Wendy Haverstick. The couple’s minor child was present in the building at the time of the incident.

Mr. Haverstick is still recovering at the Hospital.
