CHARLOTTE, NC — Beginning Friday night, the N.C. Department of Transportation will remove snowplowable markers along Interstate 77 north of Charlotte.
Crews in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties will work concurrently in different areas to remove the markers, fill any broken pavement and retrieve any loose markers.
Intermittent lane closures are scheduled for the following nights:
Friday, April 21: 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, April 22
Saturday, April 22: 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, April 23
Sunday, April 23: 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday, April 24
Additional lane closures may be scheduled next week, depending on progress.
The lane closures will occur on I-77 in both directions between mile markers 25 and 30 in Mecklenburg County, and between mile markers 30 and 36 in Iredell County. NCDOT is also coordinating with Sugar Creek Construction to remove snowplowable markers between mile markers 20 and 24.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution in these areas.
