YORK, SC — The York County Coroner’s Office released the name of the man killed in a fatal head on accident Friday morning.
Officials say Howard Childers, 64, of York was killed just after 8am on Highway 5 near Kellocreek Lane after hitting another vehicle head on.
According to troopers, Childers was driving a 1998 Mustang when he crossed the center line, sideswiped a trailer being towed by a pick-up, and hit a Honda sedan head on. Officials say Chystal Tonsalei, 46, of York was driving the Honda. She was taken to CMC Main and treated for injuries.
No one else was injured in the accident.
Officials have not said what may have caused Childers to cross the center line.
