Protesters Rally in Charlotte Against Climate Change Policy

CHARLOTTE, NC – For the third week in a row, marchers rallied in Uptown Charlotte and across the country.

“I’m very concerned about the government’s policies. And how that’s going to affect my future, our planet’s future, my children’s future,” says Deirdre Mondel.

People at the march against climate change say they object to the President’s rollback of restrictions on things like mining, oil drilling, and greenhouse gas emissions at power plants.

“I’m horrified. I’m horrified. I understand that many people feel that there’s too much government regulation, too much involvement by government in our lives. But the environment, without a healthy environment, we’re all going to suffer,” Mondel says.

Trump argues restrictions have held back economic growth.

The president signed an executive order last month un-doing much of President Obama’s efforts on combating climate change.

Trump says the White House is focused on putting American jobs first.

“We can improve public schools, we can improve so many important issues, but we have to have a sustainable planet for everyone’s children,” Christy Kluesner.

We’ve seen similar sentiments at recent rallies – last weekend during a march for science, two weeks ago for tax day, and other events organized by women’s and immigrant groups.
