CMS Names 2017 Teacher And Teacher Assistant Of The Year
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has named Deanna Cureton the 2017 Teacher of the Year, and Steven Randolph as the 2017 Teacher Assistant of the Year.
Cureton teaches English Honors II and serves as the 10th grade team leader at Charlotte Early Engineering College (CEEC). CMS says she joined CEEC in 2016 teaching freshmen and will follow her students all the way through graduation. She received $1500 from Charles G. Monnett III & Associates, a one-year lease on a new car from Keffer Volkswagen, a television from the National Teachers Association, and free lifetime alignment on her car from Griffin Brothers Tire and Auto. She will also receive a gift bag from Classroom Central.
Randolph teaches at Allenbrook Elementary and draws upon his own life experiences to encourage and motivate children to succeed and put forth their best effort. He received $750 from Charles G. Monnett III & Associates, a television from the National Teachers Association, and free lifetime alignment from Griffin Brothers Tire and Auto.
