County Health Officials Offer Tips To Combat Those Pesky Mosquitos

CHARLOTTE, NC — With mosquito season now in full swing, Mecklenburg County health officials are offering tips to help keep you protected.

Officials say homeowners should check their backyards once a week for any areas with standing water. Mosquitos need to be in water to lay their eggs, so any standing water should be removed to help prevent reproduction.

Health officials are also reminding people to be aware of the threat of Zika this year. Last year, officials say there were no positive tests for mosquitos with Zika in NC, but necessary precautions should still be taken.

Homeowners can also get ‘moquito doughnuts’ at your local home improvement store that will prevent mosquitos from growing into adults for 30 days.
