Neighbors In Disbelief After Southeast Charlotte Murder-Suicide

CHARLOTTE, NC — Neighbor Bill Huddleston says, “All a sudden I seen a lady come outside crying all upset, making a phone call, and I was like wow… and she was really really hysterical.”

Huddleston walks his dogs by the dog park in Charleston Place Apartments in southeast Charlotte and heard commotion Wednesday afternoon, then saw emergency crews rush in.

Bill says, “They went into the apartment over there, and they were in there for a few seconds, and the emergency people came out left, and then all the firemen and ambulance left and police came.”

CMPD says homicide is conducting a death investigation after police found a man and woman shot to death inside the apartment.

Police say so far it appears the man and woman lived there together and were in a relationship.

Neighbors say they don’t know the people but are shocked to hear.

Corey Johnson says, “Honestly, you don’t think this neighborhood would have something like that going down cause it’s more like a family neighborhood and it’s always police around.”

Police say they are searching the neighborhood for witnesses to help with the investigation.

Neighbors say all this recent crime is just too horrible.

Bill says, “It’s just sad, it’s a beautiful day and we have to do something, it’s too much, it’s happening too much our youth is, it’s just crazy.”

The victim is 29-year-old Tiara Clark. The suspect is 31-year-old Byron Howington.
