3 Charged For Drug Trafficking In Burke County

BURKE COUNTY, NC — Deputies arrested and charged three suspects with trafficking methamphetamine after a vehicle chase on Monday.

According to reports, deputies were looking for Crystal Newton, 33, of Morganton when she was spotted riding in a car on Kathy Road. The driver, John Harding, 33, of Marion took off and led deputies on a brief pursuit, officials say, that ended in their arrest.

Deputies say a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, marijuana, prescription pills, a gun, and several items of drug paraphernalia were found in the car. Jonathan Boyd was also in the vehicle and was arrested for drug possession.

Newton was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Scheduled II CS, Possession of Scheduled VI CS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Harding was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Parole Violation.

Boyd was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Scheduled VI CS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
