Intisar Banks has been arrested and charged with two counts of Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child.
According to reports, police were called to Fountain Park on E. Main Street just before 7pm Tuesday where Banks’ fiance and children were trying to get a ride from passing vehicles. The fiance told officers that he was trying to get to Cherry Road to donate plasma, and that Banks had left her children downtown. The man also told officers that he, Banks, and the children were homeless.
Police finally reached Banks after several attempts and eventually learned that she was in Charlotte having an affair. Banks initially told officers that she was at Piedmont Medical Center, but that was proven untrue.
Officers say they fed Banks’ children while they waited nearly four hours at the police department her to arrive. Numerous calls were made during that time, and police say at one point Banks finally answered and claimed to be at the York County Jail.
Police and DSS workers interviewed the children and eventually decided to take them into Emergency Protective Custody after Banks refused to show or answer anymore phone calls. Warrants were then issued, and Banks was located and arrested early Wednesday morning.
