Company in Charge of I-77 Toll Lanes Fined $1.36 Million

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is now fining the company hired to build the toll lanes on I-77 $1.36 million.

NCDOT says the fine is for CINTRA failing to comply with lane closure restrictions.

Road barriers on I-77 North were not removed till almost 8am Tuesday morning, causing huge backups.

CINTRA has been previously accused of mismanaging toll lane projects in other cities as well.
