ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect for the theft of several firearms from a Gold Hill residence earlier this month.

Richard Goodman

Authorities say Richard Melvin Goodman, 28, was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering and Larceny After Breaking and Entering for breaking into a residence on St. Peters Church Road in Gold Hill, North Carolina, and stealing multiple items.

According to the RCSO, on separate occasions from May 19th through May 23rd, Goodman entered the St. Peters Church Road residence and stole a Remmington rifle, a Stevens Savage rifle, a Marlin rifle, and a Heritage Ruff Rider revolver, along with a Playstation gaming  system, two Xbox 360 gaming systems, three televisions, jewelry, clothing and other items.

Officials say a search warrant was executed at Goodman’s residence and one of the firearms has been recovered.  The investigation continues and more arrests are expected as officers attempt to recover the other guns.

Goodman is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
