Man Dies In Single Vehicle Wreck In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is dead after losing control of his car and crashing in east Charlotte on Saturday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Carl Kenneth Stone, 56, died from injuries sustained in an accident near the intersection of Albemarle Road and Pine Grove Avenue.

Police say Stone was traveling at a high rate of speed around a curve on Albemarle Road, when Stone’s 1990 Nissan 300ZX veered off the right side of the roadway. Β Stone overcorrected which caused him to lose control of the vehicle, enter the median, and strike a guard rail on the left side of the road.

The vehicle continued to slide and rolled down the concrete embankment between the bridges of the inbound and outbound lanes.

Mr. Stone was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Β He was not wearing a seat belt.

Police are investigating whether impairment is a factor in the crash.
