Veterans, Community Remember Fallen on Memorial Day

CHARLOTTE, NC — Veterans and community members gathered in east Charlotte on this Memorial Day to remember those who have died in war.

The Charlotte Fire Department raised the American flag at Sharon Memorial Park for Monday’s ceremony.
Veterans placed a wreath at the memorial as a thank you to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

“You can’t ever forget what it cost to have our freedom to do these sort of things, to have your barbeques and picnics and stuff. It’s about freedom, and freedom isn’t cheap. Freedom doesn’t come free.”

The veterans memorial is here 365 days a year at Sharon Memorial Park, but this Memorial Day, the original design representing each branch of the military flags, including the POW-MIA, is here for remembrance.
