CHARLOTTE, N.C. —ย ย Time Out Youth Center has announced that the Howard R. Levine Foundation/Howard & Julie Levine have made a matching gift challenge of $100,000 to the Centerโs capital campaign.
After reading about other major gifts made to the Center, and learning about the rise in LGBTQ youth accessing social services, the Levineโs chose to make a significant donation to the Centerโs capital campaign, according to a news release.
Levine stated, โThis is a crucial time for our City and State to be embracing the diversity, the ideas and the leadership that young people bring to our community. We are honored to be a small part of the Centerโs extraordinary efforts to serve, defend and protect our LGBTQ youth.โ
Time Out Youth Center is one of the oldest and largest LGBTQ organizations in the Carolinas, and provides a safe gathering place, counseling, and job support for LGBTQ youths 11-20 years old. The Center launched a $3.4 million five-year capital campaign in December. The campaign will fund the purchase and renovation of the Centerโs new permanent home at 3800 Monroe Road, provide expanded programs and services, and build a 10-bed LGBTQ Homeless Youth Transitional Living Shelter by 2020.
