Novant Health House Call: Children Under One Should Not Drink Fruit Juice

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dr. Jennifer Squires, a pediatrician with Novant Health Elizabeth Pediatrics, stops by to discuss why juice might not be the best drink for your kids.

Children should not be given fruit juice before they are 1 year old unless it’s advised by a doctor, according to new guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics. This is the first change to the academy’s fruit juice recommendations since 2001.
