Teen Charged with Arson on CPCC Campus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD have arrested a teen in connection to fires started at Central Piedmont Community College’s campus.

The fire was started at around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday morning in a trash can within a campus building on Elizabeth Avenue.

Charlotte fire officials were able to control the fire without injuries.

Thursday, police announced 19-year-old Joshua Armstrong was being charged in the case.

Armstrong faces charges related to burning of a school house, along with carelessness with fire and is expected to appear in court on Thursday at 1 p.m.
