Residents Weigh In At County Budget Hearing
CHARLOTTE, NC — Residents had the chance Monday night to weigh in on how Mecklenburg County plans to spend billions of tax payer dollars.
Nearly 60 people spoke at the public hearing, and more than 200 signed up. One of the biggest decisions commissioners face is whether to put a nearly one-billion dollar bond referendum on the November ballot.
The money would go to new schools for CMS, and other projects around the district. Some groups are also asking the county to help give teachers a raise.
The proposed 2018 budget would not raise taxes for people living in Mecklenburg County.
