Fired FBI Director James Comey Releases Details of Meetings with Trump

CHARLOTTE, NC – Just one day before he takes the stand to testify, fired FBI Director James Comey released a statement detailing his private conversations with the President.

The fired FBI director will outline nine one-on-one conversations with the president.

“I need loyalty.. I expect loyalty.”

That’s what Comey says Trump told him during a private dinner at the White House in January.

It’s an unusual request says political science professor Eric Heberlig.

“Particularly as a law enforcement officer, their duty is to the law, not to the president,” Heberlig says.

Inside the Oval Office, Comey recalls Trump in February brought up the FBI investigation into Mike Flynn for ties to Russia.

“I hope you can see your way to letting this go.. to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go,” Comey claims Trump said.

“Arguably that could constitute an obstruction of justice,” Heberlig says.

But former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker says if Comey was concerned about obstruction, he should have raised concerns then.. not now.

“Did he think pressure was being exerted on him? And if he did, why didn’t he refer it? The FBI has the ability to open up obstruction investigations,” Swecker says.

Comey also details a phone call in March, where he says Trump asked what the FBI could do to “lift the cloud” hanging over the administration because of the Russia investigation.

Comey says the president wanted him to go public that Trump himself wasn’t under investigation, repeatedly telling him.. “We need to get that fact out.”
