Former Stanly County Captain Charged With Secret Peeping

STANLY COUNTY, NC — A former Stanly County captain accused of secretly peeping into a woman’s bedroom has now been charged.

Roddy Tomberlin was served a warrant Wednesday charging him with Misdemeanor Secret Peeping. The charge stems from an investigation by the SBI into a secret peeping incident that occurred sometime between November 1, 2015 and December 30, 2015.

The warrant says that Tomberlin, who was a captain with the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office at the time, allegedly “unlawfully and willfully did peep secretly” into the bedroom of a female victim while she was in the room.

Officials say Tomberlin resigned on December 30, 2016 after serving as captain for nearly two years.

Tomberlin is scheduled to appear in court on June 27th at 9am.
