Charlotte Husband Charged With Murdering His Wife After Setting Her On Fire

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have charged Gary McGill, 51, with the murder of his wife after she died from assault injuries on June 3rd.

According to reports, shortly before midnight on May 21st, 47-year-old Archie McGill was found severely burned after police responded to an assault call on Leafcrest Lane. Archie was taken to CMC and then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where she eventually died from her injuries.

Prior to Archie’s death, police charged her husband, Gary McGill, with Attempted Murder, Malicious use of Incendiary Device, Burning Personal Property, and Carelessness with Fire.

Officials say an autopsy confirmed that Archie died as a result of injuries sustained during the May 21st assault.

Gary McGill was arrested Thursday and charged with Murder.
