CMPD’s Snoopy Nearly Collides With Drone Wednesday, Owner Wanted

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is still trying to find the owner of a drone that almost collided with Snoopy Wednesday night.

It’s the second near miss between Snoopy and a drone in just over a year. The latest incident happened around 9pm last night near BB&T Ballpark Uptown.

CMPD says the drone was flying at 600 feet, at a speed of 100 miles per hour. The drone came within 20 feet of the chopper.

The owner could face jail time and fines for the incident. Sgt. Kenneth Anderson says even with a FAA waiver, drones can’t fly higher than 400 feet.

The other near miss was back in March 2016. 26-year-old Christopher Baucom was arrested in that incident after police say he flew the drone near Snoopy on purpose.
