Family And Friends Hold Vigil For Charlotte’s 38th Murder Victim

CHARLOTTE, NC — Family and friends gathered in west Charlotte Thursday night to remember William Weddington.

The vigil was held at Camp Greene Park for the 24-year-old who was shot and killed at his mother’s house on Spring Terrace Lane Sunday. Weddington’s cousin says it is time for Charlotte’s youth to step up and stop the violence.

Police say a family friend shot Weddington after an argument over his car. 63-year-old Maurice Grant is charged with murder.

Weddington will be buried Friday.
