I-85 Remains Shut Down Following Tuesday Night Crash

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Part of I-85 is closed following a deadly car crash that killed one and injured two others Tuesday night.

The crash happened as a result of two tractor trailers colliding head on near the Carolina border at the Highway 29 E. Cherokee Street exit.

Crews at the scene stated that I-85 would be closed for an undertermined period of time as they worked the scene.

As of Wednesday morning, the road is still closed with troopers directing those heading south to take Dixon School Road to Hwy 29 and back to I-85.

Investigators have yet to reveal any information as to what caused the crash itself.
