Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect After Brief Vehicle Chase

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has arrested a 19-year-old man for his involvement in two armed robberies from local businesses.

Shari Harris was arrested after a brief chase with officers Wednesday morning. He is accused of robbing the QT Gas Station on The Plaza, and a 7-Eleven on Old Concord Road overnight on June 13th. In both incidents, police say Harris entered the business, robbed them at gunpoint, and then took off in a grey vehicle.

Detectives say the car used to flee both scenes was also reported stolen on June 4th.

That stolen vehicle was seen speeding down N. Tryon Street this morning, according to police, and refused to stop for officers. Police say Harris was driving when he tried to pass other cars and crashed into a median. He and a passenger took off on foot, but were quickly apprehended.

Harris was taken to CMC for treatment after a minor bite from an assisting K-9, and then charged with two counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. The passenger, 17-year-old Diastarrquacios McKnight, was cited for Resisting an Officer.
