CHARLOTTE, NC — The University of North Carolina Charlotte chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon received a four year suspension after allegations of hazing during Spring 2017.
Officials say the report filed with the UNCC Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life claimed that hazing activities took place during the Spring’sΒ new-member education and initiation processes. Some of the activities were alleged to have happened at the chapter’s off campus house.
The Office of Student Conduct began investigating the claims in May, and the fraternity accepted responsibility for hazing and failure to comply violations of the Code of Student Responsibility. The case was settled on May 23, according to officials.
The suspension will last from May23, 2017 until August 15, 2021.
School officials says no charges were filed by any students, and they are not aware of any police investigation into hazing at the off campus house.
