CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has charged a 20-year-old man with sexually assaulting a woman in a Davidson park Thursday evening.
Joao Maldonado is charged with two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Rape and two counts of 2nd Degree Forcible Sex Offense.
According to reports, Davidson Police responded to Fisher Farm Park on Shearer Road around 6pm after a woman reported being sexually assaulted. The victim said she and Maldonado were walking through the park together when he sexually assaulted her.
Davidson Police took Maldonado into custody and had him treated for injuries sustained during the assault at CMC Mercy. He was then placed into the custody of CMPD and charged after an interview with detectives.
