Police Identify Toddler Killed After Alleged Abuse By Mother’s Boyfriend

UPDATE: CMPD has identified the 2-year-old victim as A’dan Blackmon.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: Christopher Sims was awarded a public defender during a hearing Monday morning.

The mother of the child was also in court today in support of Sims. WCCB spoke with some of his family following the hearing, and they maintain that Sims is innocent.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man accused of abusing a two-year-old boy and leaving him with a traumatic brain injury is now charged with murder.

Police arrested the suspect, Christopher Sims, at the hospital Wednesday night.

Authorities say Sims was alone at the house with the boy at the time of his injuries.

Sims is the boyfriend of the boy’s mother.
