CHARLOTTE, NC — 34-year-old Zemmie Pendergrass, Jr. has died from injuries after hitting a tree in east Charlotte early Sunday morning.
Police say Pendergrass died at 11:14am Tuesday at CMC from injuries sustained during Sunday’s accident.
According to CMPD, Pendergrass lost control of his 2006 Cadillac at the intersection of E. WT Harris and Randy Drive just after 3am. He then ran off the left side of the rode and hit a tree. Police say emergency crews had to remove him from the vehicle before transporting him to CMC.
Investigators say that speed and alcohol both contributed to the accident. No other vehicles were involved.
