ROCK HILL, S.C. — The FBU Top Gun returns to Rock Hill from July 7th to July 14th and will feature over 1,500 talented middle school and high school student-athletes from all around the country.
Rock Hill has come to be known as Football City USA for the vibrant football atmosphere and prodigious talent the city produces.
“We are thrilled to have the country’s largest football showcase back for a second year,” says Auvis Cole, Interim Executive Director for the Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“The community has really embraced this event as their own with the Rock Hill School District being our biggest partner so that we may keep this event in York County.”
The High School Showcase will offer up to eight invitations to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and 250 invitations to the National Combine in San Antonio, Texas.
Derion Kendrick from South Pointe High School has already accepted his invitation to the Army All-American Bowl.
At the Middle School Showcase, invitations to the FBU Freshman All-American Bowl will be given and the top performers will be ranked and named to the All-Top Gun Team by grade level.
“The platform and the opportunity these athletes have are off the charts,” says Steve Quinn, VP of Player Development at Football University. “There won’t be another showcase this summer that will rival the platform on which FBU Top Gun puts these athletes. Most of the next crop of elite prospects will no doubt be at FBU Top Gun.”
This year the All American Games will host the Women’s Athletic Leadership Academy on July 9, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at South Pointe High School.
The leadership academy will feature a keynote address by Dr. Jen Welter, the first female NFL coach and International Federation of American Football Gold Medalist.
WALA attendees will learn leadership skills, strategies for success as well as how to overcome challenges women athletic leaders face. Participants will also have be engaged in Q&A and small group sessions.
