CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The CMPD is investigating after a man was found dead on the railroad tracks near uptown early Saturday morning.
Police say around 12:24 a.m., Victor Williams, 57, was found deceased on the railroad tracks nearΒ W. 9th Street and N. Smith Street.
Investigators believe Mr. Williams was struck by a Norfolk Southern cargo train. Β It is unclear what Mr. Williams was doing on the tracks.
A Norfolk Southern train conductor reported seeing a possibly deceased subject on the railroad tracks.
Mr. Williams was wearing dark clothing an authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.
