Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops: Celebrate America- Charlotte

Pack a picnic and blankets and chairs as Charlotte Symphony presents a salute to Independence Day. Fireworks follow the concert. $5-$12; children 12 and under free. Gates open at 5pm. Symphony Park, 4400 Sharon Road.

Fireworks and Music Spectacular- Denver

Country music star Collin Raye performs a concert followed by a fireworks display. Gates open at 4pm. East Lincoln High School, 6471 NC-73, Denver.

Red, White and Blue Lawn Party With Fireworks- Ballantyne

Live music by Revelwood Mission, food trucks, craft beer from N.C. brewers, games and fireworks. Picnic blankets or patio folding chairs are recommended. Lowe’s YMCA July 3rd Summer Celebration- Lake Norman

The largest fireworks display in the Lake Norman region takes place in Morrison Plantation at the Lowe’s YMCA in Mooresville (170 Joe V. Knox Avenue). An afternoon of family fun, inflatables, games and live music begins at 4 p.m. concluding at 10 p.m. after the fireworks. The Part Time Blues Band, Pluto For Planet, and The Glass Hammers will perform. Free.

Red, White and Boom – Rock hill 

Celebrate the holiday with food, live music, mechanical rides, activities for kids and fireworks. Free. Festivities begins at 5:30pm with fireworks at 10pm. East Black Street, Rock Hill, S.C.

Carowinds

July 4 to August 2 – Carowinds’ annual “Nights of Fire” celebration features a fireworks show every night at 10 p.m. over the Thrill Zone.

Charlotte Fourth of July Fireworks at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Participate in a free autograph session and then watch Legend Cars and Bandoleros race during the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout Series. Stay for a fireworks show after the race at 9pm. Gates open at 5pm. Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Pkwy. S., Concord.

Gastonia July Fourth Festival 

Celebrate the holiday with eight city blocks of family fun, including live music, food, carnival rides, entertainment, and eating contests. Fireworks start at 9:15pm. Free. 11am-10pm. Downtown Gastonia, Gastonia.

Kannapolis All-American Community Celebration

The City of Kannapolis celebrates Independence Day at the Intimidators Ballpark with special kids activities including bounce houses, face painters, Dakota the Dinosaur, apple pie baking contest, and a Little League game followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m., $4-$5. The Intimidators will also have fireworks (and Thirsty Thursday specials) at the game vs. the Delmarva Shorebirds on July 3.

Lake Wylie Fantastic Fireworks at Buster Boyd Bridge

The annual fireworks show over Lake Wylie sponsored by Camp Thunderbird has taken place for over 50 years. It begins about 9:45 and can be seen from the decks at several surrounding businesses, including T-Bones on the Lake, where you’ll enjoy live music.Free.

July Fourth Celebration- Monroe

The annual Waxhaw parade steps off at 10 a.m. down Main Street, followed by the Beach Party at 5 p.m. behind the car wash and fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Plaza-Midwood Pig Picking- Charlotte

Taking up some of the slack for fireworks viewers, the Plaza-Midwood Merchants Association is stepping up its game with an expanded fireworks display launched from the roof of the Diamond Restaurant at 9:45 p.m. The show is the culmination of an entire day of celebrations in the historic neighborhood with many venues offering special menus, live music, food trucks and more. Dan “The Pigman” Huntley returns this year roasting a whole hog, with BBQ plates available.

Revolutionary Fourth- Kings Mountain

Cannon battle re-enactment, kids militia muster and games, and colonial craft making. Stick around for one the biggest firework shows between Charlotte and Asheville. Free. 2-10pm. The Walking Track, 101 W. Gold St., Kings Mountain. 704-473-8727.

Tega Cay Fourth of July Celebration
