Man On The Run After Attempting To Kidnap Two Female Joggers

CHARLOTTE, N.C — CMPD is searching for a man who approached two female joggers at gunpoint Tuesday morning.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said that at 7:48 a.m., a female victim was running in the 15000 block of York Road when a man pulled up in a vehicle and pointed a firearm at her demanding she get into the car.

The female was able to run away and call 911 once she got to a safe location.

According to police, an hour later another female victim said she was running on the 5900 block of Dixie River Road when the same male suspect pulled up next to her.

He pointed a firearm at her and demanded she get into the vehicle but she was able to flag down a nearby passerby where he called 911.

Neither of the two victims were injured during the incidents.

CMPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

The suspect is being described as a light skinned Hispanic male who is approximately 20-30 years old, with straight black hair and wearing a black shirt.

He was last seen driving a tan or gold 1999 Mercedes Benz with North Carolina license plates EJA1151.

According to CMPD, the Mercedes Benz used by the suspect was reported stolen on July 1, 2017 from a location in the Freedom Division.

During a press conference this morning, police said they believe the suspect is somewhere in the woods near the White Water Center and are continuing to search the area.

The stolen car the suspect was driving has been found on fire on Performance Drive.
