CMPD Charges Suspect In Morning Burglary Case

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have arrested the suspect wanted for trying to steal an air conditioning system from a local Church Thursday morning.

Steven Banner, 51, is charged with two counts Resisting an Officer, Possession of Burglary Tools, 1st degree Trespassing, Larceny, two counts Possession of Stolen Goods, and Damage to Property.

According to reports, Bicycle Officers were called to Clement Zion Church on Newland Road just before 10am. When they arrived, officers say they saw Banner trying to steal parts off of the air conditioning system and then he took off on foot.

Police quickly caught and arrested Banner, and say he had a copper pipe and burglary tools in his possession.
