Deputies Arrest One Of Burke County’s Most Wanted

MORGANTON, NC — A Burke County man wanted on multiple charges was arrested while trying to hide under his bed, deputies say.

According to officials, deputies were tipped off to Kristopher Childers’ location Thursday after being on the Burke County Most Wanted list for nearly four weeks. Deputies found Childers at a home on Moon Valley Court, and said they could see him trying to hide under a bed when they arrived.

Deputies say a small child was also found in the home and Burke County DSS was called to assist.

Childers, 34, is charged with two counts Assault on a Female, Communicating Threats, Misdemeanor Larceny, felony Probation Violation on Habitual Felon-Status, Resisting Public Officer, and Injury to Personal Property.

Elizabeth Stilwell, 39, who was also inside the home, was taken into custody and charged with Resisting Public Officers.
