Charlotte Mayor Pro Tem Officially Enters Mayoral Race

CHARLOTTE, NC — Mayor Pro Tem Vi Lyles is officially running for mayor after filing at the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections Tuesday.

Lyles, a Democrat, says she wants to create more affordable housing and better paying jobs.

On the Democratic side, Lyles will be running against current Mayor Jennifer Roberts and State Senator Joel Ford. Republican Charlotte City Councilman Kenny Smith is also in the race.
