LINCOLN COUNTY, NC — Deputies have charged 16-year-old Steven Batista with breaking into a home in 2016 while the residents were asleep inside.
The incident happened on November 14th at a home on Sedgebrook Drive West in Stanley. Deputies say Batista broke in the back door while the residents were asleep and took off with several items that included a flat screen TV, liquor, and purse with credit cards, cash, and vehicle keys inside.
Several of the items were recovered nearby, and investigators were able to pull fingerprints. According to officials, those prints were matched by Gaston County Police in June to Batista.

Batista is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail on several other unrelated charges. He is now also being charged with one felony count each of First Degree Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Possession of Stolen Goods.
He is currently being held in Mecklenburg County under an $80,000 secured bond.
