CHARLOTTE, NC — Another person has been cited after trying to bring a loaded handgun through a security checkpoint at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The incident happened around 12:30pm Tuesday at the Checkpoint B Precheck lane. Officials say the man was stopped when officers at the checkpoint X-ray machine detected a loaded 9mm handgun in his carry-on. CMPD responded to the incident and cited the man for carrying a firearm on airport property.
Last year, TSA officials say 54 firearms were found at CLT. 31 firearms have been found so far this year.
Officials are reminding passengers that you can travel with firearms but they must be in checked baggage, unloaded, packed in a hard-side case, locked, and packed separately from ammunition. You can get more information on how to properly travel with a firearm by clicking here.
