Man Faces Multiple Felony Charges In Several North And South Carolina Counties
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A 36-year-old man wanted for multiple robberies throughout several counties in North and South Carolina has been arrested.
William Inscoe was arrested Friday at the intersection of Cumberland Road and Watering Trough after leading deputies on a 20 minute foot chase. According to officials, Inscoe was wanted on multiple charges in Iredell, Alexander, and Buncombe Counties in North Carolina as well as Cherokee County in South Carolina.
Inscoe was also currently out on bond for an Armed Robbery in Mecklenburg County.
Officials say Inscoe recently called a news station confessing to a Charlotte bank robbery back in January, and then admitted to a robbery and attempted robbery in Weaverville, NC and Gaffney, SC. Inscoe then told the station that he was planning to rob another bank, and would kill himself if confronted by law enforcement.
Iredell County deputies were soon able to track down Inscoe after being tipped off about the call. Inscoe took off on foot when deputies tried to take him into custody, according to reports, but he was soon tracked down by K-9 units and arrested.
Deputies say Inscoe was hospitalized after complaining of medical issues immediately following his arrest.
Once released, deputies say he will be charged with multiple felony offenses in connection to Breaking and Entering Larceny, Obtaining Property by False Pretense, and Larceny by Employee in Iredell and Alexander County. He will also be charged in connection to the robbery in Weaverville. Officials say no warrants have been issued out of Gaffney yet, but charges are expected.
Since getting out on bond for the Charlotte robbery, deputies say Inscoe has been driving a tan 1982 Toyota truck. Deputies are asking anyone with information on other crimes that Inscoe may be connected to to call the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say Inscoe has a long criminal history that includes multiple felony convictions for Larceny, Obtaining Property by False Pretense, Flee to Elude, and Forgery. He also has multiple misdemeanor convictions that include drug charges, larcenies, statutory rape, possession of burglary tools, traffic offenses, and other crimes.
