Governor Cooper Shares Concern On Opioid Crisis

CHARLOTTE, NC — Governor Roy Cooper says he is worried the opioid crisis could get worse if funding is left out of the new health care legislation.

Cooper shared his concerns during a visit to a University City Walgreens Tuesday to promote a new medicine disposal kiosks. Four people die each day in North Carolina from opioid overdoses, says Cooper.

The governor says efforts should focus on treating the addicted instead of putting them in jail.
