Overnight Storms Result in Power Outages and Fallen Trees

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Overnight storms have left more than 1,200 people in Mecklenburg County without power.

Most of the outages are in East Charlotte near NODA. Duke Energy Hopes to get the lights back by 7 a.m..

CMPD is also checking out several reports of fallen trees and power lines.

There are reports that a tree crushed a home in the Villa Heights neighborhood on Yadkin Ave. No one was hurt.

Firefighters also had to rescue two men caught in flash flooding.

It happened on East 16th Street at North Tryon, with one man saying the water rose so quickly that it was above his SUV’s wheels before he knew it.
