Charlotte City Councilwoman Stands By Anti-Trump Comments

CHARLOTTE, NC — City Councilwoman Dimple Ajmera says she stands by her comments about President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Ajmera appeared on a political talk show recently and said Republicans who support Trump should not be leading local government.

The NCGOP responded to Ajmera’s comments in a statement saying in part, “Nearly 100,000 Charlotte residents, Republicans, Democrats, and Unaffiliated voted for President Trump.” They went on to say, “Her [Ajmera’s] call to disqualify or ban any citizen to run and serve is contrary to our values as North Carolinians.”

Ajmera was appointed to City Council in January to replace John Autry. She is currently running for an at-large seat.
