Group Continues Push To Bring Major League Soccer To Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — A group hoping to bring Major League Soccer to the Queen City took another shot with City Council Thursday hoping to land some funding to build a new stadium.

Members of the Council Economic Development Committee and Mayor Jennifer Roberts heard a presentation from lead investor Marcus Smith and Tom Murray with the CRVA Friday. They were trying to convince the council to invest nearly $44 million in tourism tax dollars to build a new MLS stadium.

The committee will hear a revised request from MLS4CLT in a meeting on August 17th.
